Howell Highlander Robotics hosting competition at Parker MS

The Howell Highlander Robotics organization will welcome 40 FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) teams to Howell on March 31 and April 1 during the fourth-annual FRC Howell District Competition. The 2017 FRC competition game is FIRST Steamworks. During the competitions alliances of three teams will face off to prepare their airship for a take-off. Using their student-built robots, teams must build steam pressure by collecting balls and adding them into their boiler, deliver gears to the airship pilots for installation and latch onto their airship before the end of the match.

The FRC Howell District Competition begins at 5 p.m. Thursday, March 30, when the pits open, robots undergo an inspection and practice matches occur. On Friday, March 31, opening ceremonies begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by qualification matches from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2-7 p.m. The competition wraps up Saturday, April 1, with opening ceremonies beginning at 9 a.m., followed by qualification matches from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., alliance selections from 12:30-1 p.m., playoff rounds from 2-5 p.m. and an awards ceremony beginning at 5 p.m. The entire FRC Howell District Event is free and open to the public.

The FRC Howell District Competition has grown to be a premier FIRST Robotics Competition.
