Janelle K. Best, currently executive director of the Clarkston Area Chamber of Commerce, is the new president of the Howell Area Chamber of Commerce. She will begin her new duties Monday, Oct. 22, 2018.
“Janelle is an experienced chamber leader,” said Jeff Rey of Express Employment Professionals, chair of the Howell chamber’s board of directors. “I am confident in her ability and believe she will be an excellent CEO to lead the Howell chamber in the future.”
Named one of Oakland County’s Elite 40 under 40 earlier this year, Best has been active in the Clarkston community, serving on its community education advisory board, as well as committees for My Habitat Clarkston, community awards, Hunger Walk, and Clarkston State Bank Back Roads Half-Marathon.
A graduate of Clarkston High School, Best has a bachelor’s degree in fine art from the International academy of Design and Technology in Troy. Earlier this year, she obtained express graduate status from the Institute of Organization Management, a designation recognized and respected within the chamber and non-profit industries.
She began with the Clarkston Area Chamber in 2013 as its economic and workforce development coordinator; she became executive director in 2015, and worked to increase revenue and membership.
Pat Convery, the former president of the Howell Area Chamber of Commerce, retired earlier this year after 26 years with the chamber, 15 of which were as its president.
