Help feed needy county students over winter break

//

This winter break, you can help supplement meals students would typically be provided at school.

The Education Project — which strives to support student needs and reduce the impact of homelessness — holds a snack pack donation drive every winter break. Thanks to the overwhelming support of the community General Motors in Milford, The Education Project has provided thousands of Livingston County students with snacks and emergency food kits.

To help with providing food this year, the Snack Pack Drive will run through Dec. 10. All donated items can be dropped off at the Livingston Educational Service Agency, 1425 W. Grand River Ave. in Howell. The snack packs will be distributed to each student eligible for McKinney-Vento services the week of Dec. 13.

Your donation is especially important as the effects of COVID continue to affect Livingston County’s children and families. Many students — especially those who are displaced or homeless — rely on eating breakfast and lunch at school. When a students is required to quarantine due to an exposure or positive COVID test, they are missing out on their guaranteed breakfast and lunch.

Snack pack items include but are not limited to:

Pudding

Fruit Cups

Cracker snacks

Snack size chips

Pretzels

Popcorn

Granola bars

Mini cereal boxes

Oatmeal

Ramen noodles

Soup

Fruit snacks

Juice boxes

Water
