Health department expands COVID vaccination appointments

The Livingston County Health Department is now offering vaccination appointments to individuals who are:

• Aged 16+ (Pfizer) or 18+ (Janssen and Moderna) AND

• Diagnosed with a pre-existing condition that increases the risk of severe illness from the virus that causes COVID-19 OR

• Disabled as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

All individuals under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian present at their appointment. Although eligibility has expanded, Livingston County will continue to prioritize residents based on highest risk, including older residents, those with underlying medical conditions, and frontline/essential workers.

With an increase in COVID-19 cases and test positivity rate in Livingston County, residents are urged to use all effective prevention strategies. Residents should continue to follow evidence-based guidance and social distance, clean hands frequently, wear a face mask around others, and remain at home if sick. In addition to these personal prevention actions, community members are strongly encouraged to get vaccinated to protect themselves and those around them. All three vaccines currently available are safe and effective. LCHD recommends getting the first one that is available to you.
