Hartland Players takes unique spin on classic Jekyll and Hyde

The Hartland Players is set to present a black box version of Jeffery Hatcher’s adaptation of “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” with performances at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 3, 9 and 10; and 2:30 p.m. Aug. 4.

This unique performance will have audience members immersed in the action, seated directly on stage with the actors. Cast members include Stephani Bell, Arianne Cross, Sean Lauren, Mike Robbins, Kyle Switala and Mitchell Walker.

The take on the classic tale by Robert Louis Stevenson follows the life of Dr. Henry Jekyll (Walker). While experimenting with exotic powders and tinctures, Jekyll incidentally brings forth his other self — Edward Hyde (Robbins, Lauren, Switala and Bell).

When Hyde meets a woman (Cross) who stirs his interest, Jekyll decides to end his experiments. But Hyde has other ideas, and so the two sides battle each other in a deadly game of cat-and-mouse.

“Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” will be performed at the Historic Hartland Music Hall, 3619 Avon St., Hartland. Seating is limited to 50 people per performance. Tickets can be purchased online at www.hartlandplayers.org. Parental guidance is advised for children under the age of 13. Strobe effects and fog will be used during the performance.
