The City of Brighton officially kicks off the holiday season with the Holiday Glow on Saturday, and Brighton School of Ballet has a full day of Nutcracker-themed festivities on Main St. planned to help set the mood.
First, bring the little ones to 2 Dandelions Bookshop for a special Nutcracker story time at 11am. Children of all ages will enjoy hearing the story of the Nutcracker read by a ballerina, with plenty of time for photos.
Then, there are two opportunities to see dancers from Brighton School of Ballet perform excerpts from The Nutcracker at the Holiday Glow. Catch them at 4:50pm and again at 5:30pm on the stage in front of Ciao Amici’s.
Finally, warm up with a cup of cocoa or hot cider and capture a unique holiday memory while benefiting a local non-profit, as BSB offers pictures with some of the stars of The Nutcracker at the Brighton Coffeehouse and Theater from 5:30-6:30pm. In exchange for a small donation to this year’s BSB non-profit partner, Torch 180, have your photo taken with some of the iconic characters of this beloved holiday classic, including Clara, the mischievous mice, and the Nutcracker himself! Attendees can also purchase raffle tickets to win one of two Brighton-themed gift baskets, with all proceeds going to Torch 180.
Brighton School of Ballet’s full-length production of The Nutcracker will take to the stage Dec. 7 and 8 at 2 p.m. at the Brighton Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for children/teens/seniors and are on sale now at www.brightonschoolofballet.com.
