Fund A Life teams up with Executive Wealth Management to help with food needs during COVID-19 crisis

Fund A Life, a nonprofit headquartered in Brighton, works to improve the lives of people facing major life-altering circumstances each year. Thus far in 2020, Fund a Life has donated over $75,000 in individual grants to people in Michigan who are battling various crisis moments.

In wake of the COVID-19 crisis, Fund A Life teamed up with Executive Wealth Management of Brighton to help two local organizations.

The first organization is Bountiful Harvest, located in Brighton, which received $4,000 in total. Led by Michael Chechel, managing director and private wealth advisor at EWM, and Mark Howell of Fund A Life, each organization gave $2,000 to Bountiful Harvest.

“Bountiful Harvest always does amazing things in the Livingston County community,” Howell said, “but the impact made now through everything people are facing has been incredible.”

Chechel agreed. “It is dire times right now and we really need to make sure all hands are on-deck,” he said.

Bountiful Harvest is focusing to supply meals; deliver food to seniors, veterans, and its other clients, with the help of volunteers; supply school kids with a weeks’ worth of breakfasts and lunches; and perform food pickup for those in need.

A second donation of $4,000 — $2,000 each from Executive Wealth Management and Fund A Life — went to The Torch and Torch 180 in Fowlerville.

“They are in need of a lot of volunteers and a lot of help,” Howell said. “If you can give donations of money, food, your time, whatever you can do.”

“We are calling the community to action as a lot of people don’t know what they can do right now,” said Michael Lay, Executive Wealth Management’s COO. “We’re just going to ask you to what you can. Do your part.”

The Torch and Torch 180 focuses on delivering food to the community; providing free food and groceries to the community; and providing hot, take-home meals.

Additionally, Fund A Life has just acquired 3,000 masks that will be sent to Woodland Cancer Center in Brighton, and The University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor.
