Final ‘Story of Us’ event features local dance companies

The Brighton Arts and Culture Commission hosts its final event in “The Story of Us: Summer Performance Series” at 7 pm. Thursday, Aug. 24, in Hyne Alley, featuring performances by two local dance companies: Suttle Dance Company and Michelle’s Academy of Dance and Performing Arts Center (MADPAC).

Suttle Dance Company was founded in early 2013 by Artistic Director, Sylvia Suttle. The modern dance company is based in the metro Detroit area and will perform three original choreographed pieces as well as an improvisational piece.

A group of young dancers from MADPAC, located in downtown Brighton, will also be performing original pieces on “The Story of Us” stage.

Through this program the BACC offered opportunities to highlight various forms of artistic expression, educate the public in the art of storytelling, and provided a physical place for artists of all mediums to gather, work, and perform. Moving forward, the program will bring more performances and workshop opportunities to downtown Brighton as well as an outdoor photography exhibit that will be installed in Hyne Alley this fall.
