Emergency preparedness event set for Saturday, Sept. 14

Michigan’s largest free educational expo with free tours of a helicopter and jet, as well as firetrucks, ambulances and police vehicles, will also include a Child Rescue ID Kit free to all parents. The kit includes a thumb drive containing fingerprints, color photo, stats, voice exemplar, DNA, dental and saliva identifiers. Police can circulate the information in seconds to all 50 states for search and rescue efforts.

The event — the fifth annual — runs 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Livingston County Public Safety Complex, 1911 Tooley Road in Howell, near the  Livingston County Spencer J. Hardy Airport.

The day will include information and literature to help people cope, survive and prevail over disasters, 16 free speakers on readiness topics, free gun locks, free coloring books for kids, free parking and shutter bus, and free smoke detector sign-ups.
