Deadline approaching for Lake Trust’s trades and Cleary U. scholarships

Lake Trust Credit Union (Lake Trust), a community-based credit union serving nearly 200,000 individuals and businesses throughout Michigan, is seeking applicants for two unique scholarship opportunities via the Lake Trust Foundation to support Michigan residents seeking employment in one of the state’s high-demand careers through 2026.

“As Michigan’s economy continues to evolve to reflect modern workforce needs, higher education institutions are similarly adapting to respond to meet employer demand,” said David Snodgrass, Lake Trust CEO and president of the Lake Trust Foundation. “Lake Trust is focused on fostering community well-being and that includes providing advancement opportunities through education. Through Lake Trust’s partnership with Cleary University and trade schools, we are honored to offer scholarships that create opportunities for our members and support Michigan’s economy.”

2020 New Beginnings Scholarship

The 2020 New Beginnings Scholarship aims to revitalize skilled trade work as a viable career path in Michigan. It is designed for those residents that are looking to further their education or career in a technical or trade field at a Michigan college or university in the next 12 months. Eligible applicants are required to submit a 600-word essay describing future plans in a technical or trade career of the applicant’s choice. Up to six scholarships worth a maximum of $5,000 will be awarded and can be used for tuition costs, trade equipment, professional dues and/or certifications.

2020 Michigan Impact Scholarship

The 2020 Michigan Impact Scholarship seeks to award five full-tuition scholarships for Michigan residents interested in attending Cleary University at their Livingston or Detroit campuses or online. Special consideration will be given to applicants pursuing an education in one of Michigan’s Hot 50 Careers through 2026, as the opportunity is focused on meeting the demands of Michigan’s changing labor market. Applicants will write a 600-word essay describing a field of interest and why their decision is impactful to the Michigan labor force and the community.
