Community Alliance, Big Red Barrel celebrate milestone

/

The Livingston County Community Alliance and the Big Red Barrel have collected over 10,000 pounds of unused medications.

The LCCA’s mission is to unite the Livingston County community to reduce and prevent youth substance abuse and to promote a safe and drug free lifestyle. The Big Red Barrel project, started in Livingston County in late 2011, is an environmentally safe way of disposing unused medications. There are now over 80 barrels placed through out the state. All Michigan State Police posts have a Big Red Barrel, and all municipal police departments in Livingston County have one. It’s free and there are no questions asked.

In an effort to continue substance abuse programs, the Livingston County Communty Alliance will hold it’s 3rd Annual Charity Golf Outing on June 8th at Whispering Pines Golf Course. Registration is at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Lunch, dinner and games are included followed by a silent auction. Price is $90 per golfer.

All funds raised go back into the community in the form of mini grants. Get all the information you need by clicking here.
