The Brighton High School Mountain Biking team won the MISCA State Championship for the fifth year in a row by taking first place in the championship last weekend.
The Bulldogs beat Lake Orion High School among others to win the title of the Scholastic Champions. Senior Blake Howard won the Varsity Male category, while teammates Mason Verbison came in fifth and Parker Weston finished in sixth. In the Varsity Female race, senior Allison Hillstrom came in second and teammates Evelyn Money followed in third and Alexa Rondeau came in fifth.
In the Junior Varsity Male division, Blake’s brother, Brock Howard, came in second place with teammates Elijah Cranston in fourth, Trevor Holman in fifth and Illya Naumenko in sixth. In the Junior Varsity Female division, Lola Dombrowski came in third with Reagan Abramson following in fourth.
In Novice Male, Jacob Marks came in second with teammates, Kevin Priemer coming in fourth and Will Italia coming in fifth. Unfortunately, Brighton did not have any Novice Female racers.
MiSCA is the Michigan Scholastic Cycling Association. MiSCA attracts bike racers from all around Michigan. At each race, there are kids ranging from first grade all the way to seniors in high school. For more information about MiSCA, visit Miscabike.org.
