Brighton grad named collegiate golfing All-Star Scholar

Hope College golfer and Brighton High School grad Nicole Meyer has repeated as a winner of top academic honors from the Women’s Golf Coaches Association of America. She is among 828 women’s collegiate golfers in all divisions from across the country to be named WGCA All-American Scholars for the 2015-16 school year.

Honorees needed to have recorded a grade point average of 3.50 or higher. Meyer was a Scholar All-American in 2014-15. She helped the Flying Dutch repeat as MIAA champions and finished a team-best 10th at the NCAA Division III Championships during the 2015-16 season.

Meyer is majoring in chemistry and minoring in management. Hope coach Greg Stafford said it is special that one of his top scorers also leads the Flying Dutch in the classroom.

“We’re very blessed to have the type of student athletes we have in golf,” Stafford said. “It’s a great group of kids to work with.”
