Another Republican comes forward for chance to challenge Slotkin

Alan Hoover

A fifth Republican candidate has thrown his hat in the ring for the chance to take on 8th District U.S. Rep. Elissa Slotkin: Alan Hoover of Ortonville in Oakland County.

According to his campaign website, Hoover served in Iraq 2006-2007 with Michigan’s Marine Infantry Battalion; is an entrepreneur who started three companies; and was a lead organizer for student veteran advocates while attending the University of Michigan Dearborn Campus in 2013 who aided in getting a bill passed in congress to make veterans and their dependents be considered in-state for higher education tuition, a move that saved taxpayers and the Veterans Administration millions of dollars.

According to the campaign website, Hoover volunteers by visiting homeless and disabled veterans, as well as people in need.
