Another COVID-19 death brings total to 29; number of cases in those under 30 rises nearly 30%

Editor’s note: According to the Livingston County Health Department, an editing error put the number of COVID-19 deaths at 29; the error was corrected and the number of deaths remains at 28.


After a month of the number of COVID-19 deaths in Livingston County holding at 28, the Livingston County Health Department is reporting another, bringing the total number of residents succumbing to the disease to 29.

The newest death comes as the number of COVID-19 cases is ticking upward in Michigan. In Livingston County, the number of COVID-19 cases is rising, too, especially in the younger age groups.

From July 1 to today, the number of cases in residents under 20 has risen nearly 29 percent, from 38 on July 1 to 49 on July 20; the number of cases in those 20-29 has risen even more, to close to 31 percent, from 78 cases on July 1 to 102 on July 20.
