Salvation Army donations down from previous years

The Salvation Army of Livingston County is more than $8,600 behind in donations from where it was at this time in years past. Donations collected during the holiday season help the Salvation Army of Livingston County support its year-’round service programs.

Major Prezza Morrison of the Livingston County Salvation Army says she has faith in this generous community that responds when it is aware of what is needed. “

Livingston County has a track record of helping one another out,” says Major Morrison “The needs of those we serve is greater than ever and funds collected at Christmas will help meet the need throughout the year.  I would encourage those who can give to give generously.”

The Red Kettle Campaign will run through Saturday, Dec. 24, 2016, with donations toward the Christmas goal still being accepted through January. The Salvation Army’s 2016 goal is $380,000, which will be raised by the Red Kettles located outside of local businesses, funds sent in the mail or given online.  The following locations are hosting a kettle this season: Walmart (Howell and Fowlerville); Kroger (Howell, Hartland, Brighton and Hamburg); VG’s (Howell and Brighton); Busch’s; Walgreens (Howell, Hartland and Brighton); TJ Maxx, JCPenney, Jonna’s Market and Big Lots.
