Student with spud gun parts booted from Howell bus

A student was removed from Howell Public Schools Bus No. 81 today after the bus driver noted that he possessed parts for a potato launcher, also known as a spud gun.

For those unfamiliar with potato launchers or spud guns, some are similar to a handgun in size and shape, while others are much larger, looking more like small rocket launchers. It’s unclear which type of potato launcher the parts were for.

According to a message from the Howell Public Schools, a Three Fires Middle School student alerted others that he saw a gun on the bus. The district’s message said the bus driver responded appropriately and found the student with the potato launcher parts.

The student was then removed from the bus, which had not yet left the parking lot.

No more information was available.
