The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office is forwarding to the Livingston County Prosecutor its preliminary report on Sunday’s crash by Tomato Bros. in Howell that claimed the life of an Adrian motorcyclist.

According to Livingston County Sheriff Mike Murphy, the preliminary report indicates that Alicia Holbrook-Bloink, 46, of Howell, is at fault.

Kyle Dinius

Kyle Dinius, 33, of Adrian, was driving his 1993 Harley Davidson westbound on West Grand River Avenue when he struck the Chevrolet Traverse driven by Holbrook-Bloink, which had turned in front of him in an attempt to get into the Tomato Bros. parking lot.

Dinius and his passenger, Nancy Sloan, 69, of Howell, both of whom were wearing their helmets, were transported to Sparrow Hospital in Lansing. Dinius was pronounced dead at the hospital, and Sloan remains hospitalized.

Holbrook-Bloink, who was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident, was not injured.

Holbrook-Bloink and Holbrook Insurance Agency of Howell pleaded guilty in December 2021 to multiple felonies of defrauding clients in a case filed by the Michigan Attorney General’s Office charging them with embezzling nearly $375,000 from clients between 2015 and 2018.

According to a release from the Michigan AG’s office, in December 2021, Holbrook-Bloink pleaded guilty to conducting a criminal enterprise, and her corporation, Holbrook Insurance Agency, pleaded guilty to conducting a criminal enterprise, embezzlement, identify theft, and tax evasion. In January 2022, Holbrook-Bloink was sentenced by Chief Judge Michael Hatty in Livingston County Circuit Court to one year in jail and three years’ probation.
