North Star Reach is hosting its annual Fall Festival from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, at its camp, 1200 University Camp Drive in Pinckney. This free event of the ninth U.S. residential camp in the SeriousFun Children’s Network founded by actor and philanthropist Paul Newman, will feature family-friendly activities, raffles, entertainment, and plenty of fall fun.
Festival highlights include pumpkin carving (first 50 RSVPs receive a free pumpkin, additional pumpkins will be available for $5 while supplies last), family photo opportunities at the camp’s iconic TreeHouse, airbrush tattoos with Hazel from Red’s Entertainment (2–4 p.m.), and the Happy Camper Café Mobile Espresso Bar, which is donating 10% of proceeds back to North Star Reach.
Attendees can also enjoy trick-or-treating, a Halloween costume contest at 4 p.m., archery, games, raffles, and seasonal treats like donuts and cider available for purchase.
“This event is a joyful way for our campers, families, neighbors, and friends to experience the magic of camp together,” said J.J. Lewis, CEO of North Star Reach. “The Fall Festival captures the spirit of community, belonging, and fun that makes North Star Reach so special. Whether it’s carving a pumpkin, enjoying donuts and cider, or taking a family photo at our TreeHouse, we hope everyone leaves with a smile and a little bit of camp magic.”
The Fall Festival is free to attend, with opportunities to support camp through raffles, food and beverage purchases, and donations at activity stations throughout the event. Proceeds help sustain North Star Reach’s mission to provide transformative, cost-free camp experiences for children with serious health challenges and their families.
Fall Festival sponsors — AKSkier Insurance, Attard Engineering Consulting, Chem Trend, Schell Family Farm, and With Haven Ai — make the event possible, and the Fall Festival Planning Committee, a group of passionate volunteers who have worked tirelessly to bring this celebration to life.
Additional sponsorship opportunities are still available, and North Star Reach is seeking event-day volunteers to help create an unforgettable experience for guests. Those interested in sponsoring or volunteering can contact J.J. directly at jj@northstarreach.org or (517) 618-1874.
