Howell spikers end long losing streak to Hartland

HOWELL — Howell volleyball coach Jayne Williams couldn’t remember when the last time her Highlanders had beaten Hartland.

But she was excited about her teams 3-1 win over the Eagles on Tuesday night in the KLAA West opener for both teams.

“We’re very excited,” she said. “We felt it early and we found a way to get it done.”

The Highlanders won 25-15, 17-25, 25-20 and 25-16, their first win over the Eagles since Oct. 6, 2011.

It was Williams’ first win over the Eagles in five seasons as Howell coach.

Jessica Krakowiak had eight kills while Selina Frantti and Ivy Earl added six apiece for Howell (6-3-1 overall). Laura Kilpela added 26 digs.
