After a weekend off, Hartland softball coach Taylor Wagner is expecting her team to get back on track today.
“We play every weekend from here on out,” she said. “So it was a good weekend to rest up in maybe resting some injuries and some illness, which we’re fortunate not to have this year. We want to come out for the championship series strong.”
The Eagles (21-2 overall, 13-1 KLAA West) play host to Livonia Churchill (18-12m 10-4 KLAA East) in today’s KLAA semifinal. The game will be broadcast on The Livingston Post starting at 4:20 p.m. Click here for the link.
The Patriots have won their last eight games, including a pair of mercy-rule wins against Dearborn Fordson to lift them into second place in the KLAA East, getting them into the semifinal against KLAA West champion Hartland.
Livonia Stevenson plays host to Howell in today’s other semifinal. The winners play for the championship Thursday at Novi High School.
Hartland is coming off its only loss in the KLAA West this season, a 4-3 loss to Plymouth last week on Senior Night.
“They played like they wanted to win that game, and we didn’t, and hte better team won,” Wagner said. “It was definitely eye-opening, but it’s a true loss if we don’t learn anything from it. So we’ve got to come out with a better plan and better intentions, and we’ll be all right.”
