The 2021 season has been wildly successful for the Hartland softball team.
The top-ranked Eagles, 20-1 overall and unbeaten in the KLAA West, have already clinched first place in the division thanks to Novi, which split with Howell on Wednesday, giving the Highlanders three league losses on the season. The most Hartland can have is two, but Plymouth would have to sweep the Eagles on Senior Night to do so.
The game will be broadcast on The Livingston Post, with the first broadcast at 3:45 p.m. and the second game about 20 minutes after the conclusion of the opener. Click here for the first game. Click here for the second game. Click here for both.
It’s possible, of course, but it doesn’t seem likely, given the 1-2 pitching clout of senior Rachel Everett and junior Kylie Swierkos. Everett has a 10-0 mark with a 0.26 ERA, allowing only two earned runs in 54 innings. Swierkos has a 1.75 ERA in 72 innings.
The Eagles, who are hitting .357 as a team, are led by Delaney Robeson, who leads the team in average (.508), hits (32), runs scored (31), home runs (6), extra-base hits (17), and runs batted in (39).
The visiting Wildcats are hitting .340 as a team but have had troubles with pitching and fielding, with an ERA of 6.70 that would be much higher if not for 43 unearned runs this season.
