Carmen Harlan helping kick off Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Carmen Harlan, WDIV-Detroit’s long-time, popular news anchor, is appearing at a luncheon to benefit LACASA on Tuesday, Oct. 5, at The Opera House in downtown Howell. The luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m.

Later that day, the annual Candlelight Vigil to honor and remember the victims and survivors of domestic violence will gather at The Opera House at 6:45 p.m. The gathering will then proceed in a candlelit march to the Livingston County Courthouse lawn for a program that begins at 7 p.m.

At the luncheon, Harlan will talk about empowering women, as well as take questions from the audience.

On display at the lunch will be a powerful collection of sculptures by Brighton artist Lilith Dorr, titled “The 13 Ladies: An Epic Journey of Survival.”

Tickets are $40 each, which includes lunch. (To reserve your spot, click here.) Proceeds go directly to LACASA for its shelter, as well as its work with victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse.
