Behind closed doors (is surely something cool)

Carriage House Designs in downtown Howell is a holiday magnet, with people — including me — waiting impatiently to see what amazing display owner Kim Wilson has created for the season.

The storefront, located on Michigan Avenue, just north of Grand River Avenue, always bursts forth with loads of amazing Christmas creativity at this time of the year.

A glance at the storefront lets you know something’s going on inside. But what?

When I pried for some insider info on what we could be looking forward to this year, all Kim would say is that it’s more of a “thing” rather than “decorations,” whatever that means. The vagueness of her description makes me all the more eager to see the great window unveiling at Carriage House Designs’ Cool Yule 2010 event, set for 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

The unveiling kicks off a weekend of fun at the Carriage House. The Cool Yule Gala runs from the window unveiling at 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., and the fun includes the “It’s all about the Dress” contest.

The store’s holiday season kickoff continues throughout the weekend. Hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

I promise you photos of the unveiled window, too!
