State Rep. Jason Woolford, R-Howell, on Nov. 6, presented a commemorative resolution on the House floor recognizing the 250th anniversary of the United States Marine Corps.

Woolford invited all active-duty service members and retired Marines from across Michigan to join him during session as the House honored their service and sacrifice.

“As a proud Marine myself, and the husband and father of Marines, this recognition holds deep personal meaning,” said Woolford. “For 250 years, the Marine Corps has stood as a symbol of courage, honor, and unwavering commitment to defending our nation. Today, we pay tribute to every Marine who has answered the call to serve.

“I want to extend my deepest gratitude to the Marines who joined us today. Your presence here reminds us that the strength of our nation is built on the dedication of men and women like you. Thank you for your service and for representing the proud legacy of the United States Marines.

“The values of the Marine Corps, honor, courage, and commitment, aren’t just words; they are a way of life. They shape the men and women who serve and inspire every generation to stand ready when their country calls. Those who wear the uniform understand that brotherhood and sacrifice run deep. Semper Fi.”

As an appreciation token, Woolford gave the first 100 Marines in attendance a commemorative challenge coin and a United State Flag that has flown over the Michigan State Capitol.
