A 44-year-old Brighton woman died after jumping from the Spencer Road bridge onto southbound U.S. 23 at about 5 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, according to a release from the Michigan State Police.

The investigation into the incident determined that after the woman jumped, a pickup truck traveling south on U.S. 23 struck her. The woman was pronounced deceased at the scene, and it was determined by investigators that she had died by suicide.

The driver of the truck was not injured. Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in this incident.

The Michigan State Police advises that if you or someone you know is struggling or in crisis to contact the 988 Lifeline, call or text 988, or enter into a chat at https://988lifeline.org.
