Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is slated to speak before the Democratic National Convention on Thursday, the final day of the event and when Vice President Kamala Harris will formally accept the party’s nomination for president.

U.S. Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-Holly), the party’s U.S. Senate nominee, will also speak on Thursday evening, she said on social media.
Late Wednesday afternoon, Attorney General Dana Nessel announced she would also speak before convention attendees. Nessel spoke around 7:30 p.m.
The DNC began Monday in Chicago. Whitmer along with several other Michigan leaders are attending the conference.
Whitmer spoke briefly on Tuesday announcing Michigan delegates during the roll call vote for Harris.
U.S. Sen. Gary Peters (D-Bloomfield Township) and Sen. Mallory McMorrow (D-Royal Oak) addressed attendees earlier this week.
Slotkin announced on X, formerly known as Twitter, that she will be speaking Thursday evening.
“A little bit of national security, a little bit about what’s at stake in the November election,” she said. “Stay tuned.”
