Sharing is caring!

VETLIFE, a nonprofit organization that focuses on connecting veterans to their benefits, is hosting Harvest for Heroes on Friday, Nov. 17, in Howell. VETLIFE plans to give away 200 turkey baskets to veteran families. Each basket will feature a frozen turkey, dessert, and sides such as potatoes, gravy, stuffing, vegetables, rolls, and more. Registration is required by veterans to receive a complimentary basket. To register for VETLIFE’s Harvest for Heroes visit: harvestforheroes2023.eventbrite.com.

Registered veteran families can pick up their Thanksgiving basket from 9-11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 17, at the Livingston County Veteran Services office, 1420 Lawson Drive in Howell. Veterans are asked to pull up on the side of the building, show their registration ticket or tell them their name, and a representative will load the basket into their vehicle.

“Harvest for Heroes provides relief for veteran families on a tight budget and allows them to enjoy the holiday season with their family,” states Cortnie Parish, co-founder of VETLIFE. “For many people, Thanksgiving is filled with over-the-top and indulgent dinners, yet many veteran families face food insecurities.”

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK in Livingston and Shiawassee Counties is partnering with VETLIFE on this project.

If you are fortunate enough to have a full pantry and pocketbook, VETLIFE urges you to consider donating to support veteran families in need this holiday season. To make a tax-deductible donation to support Harvest for Heroes and other veteran programs visit: www.vetlifetoday.org/donate.

VETLIFE’s mission is to provide veterans with sustainable solutions while promoting a safer, healthier, and prosperous civilian lifestyle.
