A Wednesday morning crash June 14 claimed the life of a 42-year-old Burton man who was heading north on U.S. 23 on his Kawasaki Ninja.

According to a release from the Green Oak Township Police, the man was traveling with traffic at normal speeds when witnesses said he swerved a little to the right and then veered hard left across all lanes and into the guardrail wires north of Silver Lake Road.

While personnel from the Green Oak Township Fire Department and Livingston County EMS performed life-saving measures, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident caused extensive delays to traffic on northbound US-23, which was closed for two hours.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation by the Livingston County Major Crash Team, which assisted along with the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department, the Michigan State Police, and Livingston County Central Dispatch.
