A three-vehicle crash on Monday, Oct. 11, 2021, on northbound US-23 north of White Lake Road in Tyrone Township claimed the life of a 70-year-old Holly man who was stopped for road construction.
According to a release from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, the Holly man was stopped for a back-up created by a construction project in Genesee County that extended into Livingston County when he was rear-ended by a 40-year-old man driving a GMC Savanah van. After striking the Silverado, the driver of the Savanah then lost control and hit a 2002 Chevrolet Impala driven by a 29-year-old Fenton man.
The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado was transported by Livingston County EMS to Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc Township, where he died. The drivers of the GMC Savanah van and the Chevrolet Impala were not injured, and they refused treatment at the scene.
All three drivers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash. The roadway was closed for approximately four hours during the investigation and cleanup.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Fenton Area Fire Department and the Livingston County EMS.
