A 42-year-old Howell man is in the Livingston County Jail after driving his car through the front door of the Huntington Bank on Grand River Avenue near Latson Road in Genoa Township at approximately 9:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 12.

When deputies from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office responded, they found that a 2020 Honda Passport had struck the building. While en route to the location, deputies were informed that the driver had fled the area on foot.

The preliminary investigation found that the driver of the vehicle had been trying to get money from the ATM drive-thru. In the surveillance video, the man becomes upset during the transaction; he then went around and intentionally drove his car into the bank’s front door before fleeing the area on foot.

A witness on scene followed the subject to a residence on Latson Road where deputies attempted contact without success.

At approximately 2 p.m., deputies executed a search warrant at the residence and took the suspect into custody without incident. He is lodged at the Livingston County Jail on malicious destruction of property charges and is pending arraignment.
