Two hours after discovering a burned vehicle in the 7000 block of Sherwood Road in Conway Township on Saturday, March 8, deputies discovered the car’s owner shot to death a short distance away.

According to a release from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of a vehicle fire at about 8 a.m. Saturday. They found an unoccupied car — a 2000 Toyota Camry — on Sherwood Road. It was a total loss, and it appeared the fire had been intentionally set, according to a release from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office.

Two hours later, at about 10 a.m., deputies found the body of the car’s owner, a 25-year-old Flint man, in the 8000 block of Robb Road; he had been shot to death.

The Sheriff’s Office said that there is no threat to the public, and due to the sensitive nature of the ongoing investigation, further information will be released at a later time.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Brian Uzoni at (517) 546-2440, ext 4842.
