Carrie Newstead

A face familiar to many is joining the Livingston County United Way as its new executive director.

Carrie Newstead, with 20-plus years of experience in the local banking industry, will begin her new duties on Nov. 18. Newstead is currently a member of the Howell Area Chamber of Commerce board of directors, as well as a past member of the board of the Fowlerville Community Schools. She’s been active in the Fowlerville Howell and Livingston Sunrise Rotary clubs, and she’s a former Rotary assistant district governor.

Newstead is familiar with the Livingston County United Way after having been involved as a volunteer in different capacities over the years.

“We are absolutely thrilled to have Carrie Newstead join our team as executive director,” said Katie Pikkarainen, president of the Livingston County United Way board. “She will bring many strengths to the organization, such as organizational management, a finance background, team building, leadership, and a true passion for the greater community.”

The LCUW board focused on local candidates, as well as their community relationships and leadership skills.

“Carrie is a proven leader in the community,” Pikkarainen said. “We are honored to have her lead and grow our organization as we move forward.”
