Two-vehicle Tyrone Township crash kills Fenton woman

A Fenton woman was killed, and her passenger was hospitalized with critical injuries after the Camaro they were in turned in front of a Silverado in Tyrone Township on Friday, Sept. 9.

According to a release from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched at about 6:30 p.m. to the intersection of Denton Hill Road and Denton Creek Drive in Tyrone Township for a two-vehicle personal injury accident.

Preliminary investigation shows that a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado was southbound on Denton hill Road when as eastbound 2017 Chevrolet Camaro attempted to turn north from Denton Creek Drive in front of the pickup. As a result of the crash, both vehicles left the roadway and required heavy extrication by Fenton City Fire Department.

The driver of the Camaro, a 46-year-old Fenton woman, died at the scene, while her passenger, a 48-yearold Fenton man, was transported to a hospital for treatment of critical injuries.

The driver of the Silverado, a 35-year-old Fenton man, was transported to a hospital for non-life threatening injuries, while his passenger, a 37-year-old woman, was treated and released at the scene.

Both drivers and passengers appeared to be wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash. Speed and alcohol remain under investigation as contributing factors. The accident remains under investigation by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Safety Bureau.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by personnel from Livingston County EMS and Fenton City Fire Department.
