Two Flint men are hospitalized in critical condition after being ejected from the car they were in when it flipped over and rolled several times on southbound U.S. 23 north of Clyde Road in Hartland Township at about 5:46 a.m. Monday, June 2.
According to a release from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, the two men were heading south on old U.S. 23 when the driver lost control of the vehicle, which left the roadway and headed into a ditch, which caused it to flip and roll several times, during which both the 20-year-old driver and the 21-year-old passenger were ejected.
Both men were transported to the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor by Livingston County EMS in critical condition. They were not wearing seat belts at the time of the incident.
Alcohol and speed appear to be contributing factors in the crash. The roadway remained closed for two hours for the investigation and cleanup.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by personnel from Hartland Fire Department, MDOT Courtesy Patrol, and Livingston County EMS. The accident remains under investigation by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Safety Bureau.
