Former President Donald Trump will rally in Grand Rapids with his new pick for vice president, Ohio U.S. Sen. J.D. Vance, on Saturday, his campaign announced.
Trump and Vance will deliver remarks at 5 p.m. at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, his campaign said Tuesday. It will be his first rally since the attempted assassination against him on July 13 in Pennsylvania.
It’s also his first rally following the Republican National Convention taking place in Wisconsin this week.
In announcing the rally, Trump criticized President Joe Biden for inflation and the “open border.”
“Joe Biden’s failed policies have left a path of death, and destruction in Michigan,” the campaign said. “President Trump will ease the financial pressures placed on households and re-establish law and order in Michigan! We can Make America Great Again by tackling lawlessness head-on, ceasing the endless flow of illegal immigrants across our southern border, and reversing the detrimental effects inflation by restoring the American people’s wealth.”
With less than four months to go before the general election, Trump and Biden are likely to return to Michigan multiple times. Biden just held an event in Detroit last week and Vice President Kamala Harris will be in Michigan this week.
