A Livingston County Sheriff’s Office vehicle was sideswiped at about 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, as it created a barrier to protect first responders at the scene of a rollover crash on I-96 near Pinckney Road in Marion Township.

According to a release from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, the deputy positioned his patrol vehicle in the left lane of I-96 to protect the first responders working the scene. A 2015 Ford F-250 being driven by a 69-year-old Fowlerville resident sideswiped the parked patrol car.

There were no injuries to deputies or other first responders from the second crash. The driver of the Ford F-250 was cited for careless driving.

The driver in the rollover crash was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The Livingston County Sherrif’s Office reminds all motorists:  when approaching any vehicle displaying flashing emergency lights on the roadway, please reduce your speed and remain alert to emergency personnel and other vehicle around you..
