Sharing is caring!

The annual Light the Torch 180 5K will welcome over 200 runners and walkers to the trails of Mt. Brighton on Thursday, Sept. 14, 2023, to raise funds for vocational training and to promote awareness for inclusive employment.

The rain-or-shine event will feature a GLOW 5K chip-timed run or walk and a 1-mile fun run at 7 p.m., as well as a virtual participation option anytime in September.

Participants can register online to take part in person or virtually — or to make a donation — by clicking here.

Race day check-in and pre-race activities begin at 5 p.m. All participants will receive a T-shirt and medal of completion. Entry fees are $40 for the 5K run/walk, $25 for the fun run, and $30 for the virtual race.

“We hold only two major fundraising events each year,” said Rhonda Callahan, founder and executive director of Torch 180. “The Glow 5K means a lot to me. We try hard to shine a light of hope to our students, customers, and supporters. Lighting up the night at our Glow 5K gives a visual that beautifully represents everything we do! We also get to feature our students, and give them a lesson on nutrition, as we have challenged them to make healthy treats for participants to enjoy after the race.”

As an added bonus, after-race drinks will be available at Mt. Brighton’s bar. Prizes will be awarded to individuals and teams in a variety of categories.

Sponsoring opportunities are still available, and donations for giveaway items are still be accepted. All sponsors will receive signage recognition and be highlighted on the event’s website. Contact Hank Vaupel here for more information.
