This is the first theatrical production for Howell High School junior Timothy Atkins, who debuts in Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” as Malovio, deemed by some critics as the most complex and fascinating character in the play.

Atkins tried out for the play when he saw an ad for it in the halls and thought, “Man, I’m bored. Why not, right?”

Shakespeare serves as the closest thing to inspiration for Atkins. “Considering his writing holds a timelesss quality, applicable to many modern situations, I hope to excel in my interests as much as Shakespeare did in his writing,” he said.

Atkins is the son of Jen Atkins and Don Atkins. He enjoys reading and writing and hopes to go to University in New England to study mathematics.

Until then, he is looking forward to performing for an audience, and testing his memorization and acting skills; he’s promising that this production of “Twelfth Night” is an “excellently entertaining and worthwhile experience.”

The Howell High School’s Performing Arts Department will present William Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, and Saturday, Nov. 17, as well as at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, at the Howell High School Rod Bushey Performing Arts Center, 1200 W. Grand River Ave., Howell.

Advance sale tickets are $10 for students/seniors and $12 for adults. Tickets can be purchased in the Howell High School main office and at Schafer’s House of Music. The ticket cost will increase by $1 at the door.
