A high-speed chase that began on I-96 in Brighton on Sunday, Dec. 15, ended in a crash near Mason Road in Howell, resulting in the arrest of three men from Lansing, all of whom were armed.
According to a release from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy patrolling eastbound I-96 near Grand River Avenue in Brighton at about 4:25 p.m. when he observed a white 2016 Nissan Maxima that had been reported stolen out of East Lansing. The deputy tried to stop the vehicle as it exited the freeway in Brighton, where an officer from the Brighton City Police Department was waiting to assist.
The vehicle did not stop, instead getting back on I-96 heading west at speeds in excess of 120 mph.
The driver drove into a ditch to avoid stop sticks that had been deployed on westbound I-96 near Mason Road, and then crashed into a concrete overpass support before becoming disabled.
No major injuries were reported by the three men in the car, all of whom were armed. They were taken into custody without incident.

The driver, Jornelius Brown, 24, is being held on $200,000 cash/surety bond on charges of receiving and concealing a stolen motor vehicle, third-degree fleeing and eluding, carrying a concealed weapon, and two counts of felony firearm.

Sargen Wawaye, 20, a passenger in the car, is being held on $50,000 cash/surety bond on a charge of carrying a concealed weapon.

Kilson Wawaye, 19, a passenger in the car, is being held on $50,000 cash/surety bond on a charge of carrying a concealed weapon.
