Brighton School of Ballet is presenting its 39th annual production of “The Nutcracker,” bringing the timeless holiday classic to life at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, at the Brighton Center for the Performing Arts, 7878 Brighton Road.

This beloved community tradition features dozens of local dancers, along with three professional guest artists from Mauro Ballet of Puerto Rico performing the iconic roles of the Sugar Plum Fairy, the Cavalier, and the Nutcracker. Audiences of all ages will be swept away by the magical story, dazzling costumes, and handmade sets — including a Christmas tree that grows before your eyes.

“The Nutcracker is the perfect way to kick off the holiday season,” said Katrina Frelich, second-generation artistic director and owner of Brighton School of Ballet. “I grew up dancing in this production, and now it’s an honor to carry on the tradition for a new generation of students and families. Seeing the excitement on our dancers’ faces and the joy it brings to the audience each year is truly magical.”

Reserved seating is required, and tickets are $35 each, available exclusively online at www.brightonschoolofballet.com. Performances typically sell out, so early purchase is encouraged.

Community Festivities and Sneak Peeks

Brighton School of Ballet dancers will offer a special sneak peek performance during the Downtown Brighton Holiday Glow at 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, at the AMP! at the Brighton Millpond. That same day, little ones can enjoy Ballerina Story Time at 11 a.m. at 2 Dandelions Bookshop, 428 W. Main St., and the Sugar Plum Fairy will make appearances around town spreading holiday cheer.

Fans can also enter the school’s Nutcracker Ticket Giveaway Contest, hosted in partnership with several Main Street businesses. Details and entry information will be shared on Brighton School of Ballet’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
