When Mike Rogers left Michigan in 2018, the state’s political sands started shifting seismically. Women — all Democrats — swept the state’s top offices. U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow racked up her fourth victory. Democrats gained two Congressional seats, including newcomer Elissa Slotkin, who picked off incumbent Republican Mike Bishop (Rogers’ successor in Congress) in the 7th District. Despite these victories, and despite gaining seats in Michigan’s legislature, however, Republicans maintained control of both chambers. So, what else did voters do in 2018? They legalized marijuana by almost 12 points. And perhaps most importantly — and by a whopping 23 points
