“Thank you so much for all the support you have shown my wife and me. While we have packed and delivered blessing boxes in the past, it was a joy to be on the receiving end. God bless all of you and your ministries!” – Recipient of the Christmas Blessings Project
Livingston County businesses, churches, organizations, schools, and local community members provided basic needs items, Christmas cheer and friendly visits to local home bound and low-income seniors through Livingston County Catholic Charities’ annual Christmas Blessing Project. This annual project is tremendous undertaking in our community to provide love, help and hope to vulnerable county seniors.
The winter months and holiday season are a difficult time of year for our vulnerable county seniors who, not only have to contend with higher utility costs that affect their ability to purchase food or life-saving medications on their limited incomes, but also battle isolation. We often hear that those the Christmas Blessings Project serve are so overjoyed when they receive their special Christmas delivery and cheerful visits because it is typically an exceptionally lonely and stressful time of year for them.
This year’s Christmas Blessing project provided food boxes, cleaning products, hygiene items, paper products and more through 214 boxes to 280 county seniors and their families.143 volunteers and a number of staff spent 414 hours soliciting, receiving, packaging and delivering the overwhelming amount of donations.
The Board and staff at LCCC are grateful for the outpouring of love, generous donations and help from our community. It is truly heartwarming and signifies the incredible county we live in.
We gratefully share the list of the many donors and hope that you will support them in return. We are stronger as a community when we work together and support each other. We especially thank our project sponsors, The Catholic Foundation of Michigan, Weingartz, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Griffith Realty, Meijer, Livingston Sunrise Rotary Foundation, Village Manor Retirement, Pinckney Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, Dave’s Hot Chicken, Hartland Lions Club and K of C Council’s (2659, 7304, 8169, 8605, 1176, and 12295). This project is an example of true collaboration between the community, LCCC, and many other concerned individuals and organizations. We are truly thankful for this support on behalf of the people that we serve.
Thank you and God Bless!
