Among my favorite columns back when I was writing one a week at the local newspaper was my annual Thanksgiving piece, though it’s a huge stretch for me to say it was “my” column because readers wrote it for me.
A few weeks before Thanksgiving, I’d put out the call for people to share publicly what they were especially thankful for at that particular moment in time. I was always entertained, impressed and moved by the responses I received; the sentiment behind a few of them made me cry.
I’d string the responses together and — voila — I had a lovely Thanksgiving column far more meaningful than anything I could have written on my own.
This year, I have a lot for which I’ll be giving thanks. It’s been a tough year, but little beams of goodness and light regularly found their way to me, lifting me up, making me laugh, consoling me, and letting me know that I am not alone. For all that and more, I am thankful.
How about you? What are you giving thanks for this year?
All you need to do is answer a couple quick questions below. I’ll do the rest. Since we are all-digital, there’s no word limit AND you can share photos, too.
You’ve got until noon on Wednesday, Nov. 15, so start giving thanks.
