An investigation into an alleged election law violation in Livingston County is “pretty preliminary at this point,” according to Detective Michael Baker of the Michigan State Police Brighton Post.

In a short release, the MSP announced that the Brighton Post is investigating an “alleged election law violation in Livingston County,” but gave no other information.

The investigation will be forwarded to the Livingston County Prosecutor’s Office upon completion, the three-sentence release said, adding that “more information will be released upon the conclusion of the investigation.”

Baker was not able to provide any further details about the alleged violation, but said that was no “widespread corruption or anything like that.”

He added that he would be able to provide more information when the investigation is complete.
