State Dems fined $27K for excessive contributions

The Michigan Democratic Party (MDP) was fined $27,000 by the Federal Elections Commission (FEC) for bringing in $154,401 in excessive contributions in 2020. The party was found to have collected more than the allowed $10,000 from 29 different individuals and $2,500 from one multi-candidate committee. MDP contends the excessive contributions were inadvertent and were caused by the aggregation of contributions from joint fundraising activities.
