The State of Michigan is continuing to investigate an employee who tweeted that Howell should be the “first city to burn” in Michigan in the wake of the George Floyd killing. She made the tweet on May 30 and pinned it to the top of her Twitter page before eventually taking it down.
The tweet sparked a furious response from both sides. At one point, someone asked her why she wanted “all white people” to be killed, to which she responded:
The tweets were made by Damia Morse, an employee at the Center for Forensic Psychiatry in Saline, under the user name @WowDamia. All of her social media accounts have since been taken down. The center is overseen by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).
DHHS spokesperson Lynn Suftin confirmed last week that the state was investigating the employee. On Monday, she said the investigation is still ongoing, and that no decision on any possible action has been reached. She said they might know more later this week.
