On July 7, 2016, Kevin Spicher, candidate for Genoa Township Supervisor, has suspended his campaign effective immediately. He cites “lifechanging events” including multiple deaths in the extended family as the reason for his withdrawal.
“It is with gratitude and respect for Genoa’s constituents, as well as my supporters, that I announce my withdrawal from the primary for Genoa Township Supervisor,” Spicher said. “The process of campaigning requires a tremendous amount of time and commitment, and a solid foundation established early to allow you to connect with voters and give them the opportunity to learn the true heart of a candidate. Direct mailing and face to face meetings at their doorstep are essential. I won’t do anything halfway, and firmly believe our voters have a right to know who they are voting for. Given my current situation, I will be unable to connect with enough of our voters in time to effectively compete in this important race.
“I am endorsing Bill Rogers, because I believe he is most likely to deeply consider the residents’ opinions before making the very important decisions this job entails,” said Spicher.
Absentee ballots have already been mailed. Spicher’s exit leaves two candidates remaining in the Supervisor race: Bill Rogers, a former Livingston Commission Chairman and State Representative, and Linda Rowell, current Genoa Trustee. Anyone who has already returned an absentee ballot voting for Spicher may contact the Clerk’s office to request a replacement.
