The Howell Carnegie District Library is partnering with the Livingston Diversity Council and the Huron-Clinton Metroparks to bring a live performance of “King Crusader and the Missing Michael” to the Meabon Room of the library on Monday to commemorate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
The Huron-Clinton Metroparks commissioned the one-man show from the Black and Brown Theatre of Detroit, which was founded in the summer of 2016 to address the inequity of casting in the professional Michigan theater scene, and to create more opportunities for theater artists of color. “King Crusader and the Missing Michael” is an interactive production exploring the life of Dr. King using historical facts and fantasy in storytelling.
A reception with light refreshments will start at 5:30 p.m., and the performance begins at 6 p.m. After the approximately 40-minute performance — with content suitable for middle- and high-schoolers and adults — the actor and production team will be available for a discussion and audience Q&A.
