After a century at its Michigan Avenue location in downtown Howell, Snedicor’s GreenEarth Cleaners celebrated its new processing facility on Sutton Street, north of Grand River Avenue in Howell, with a ribbon cutting event on Wednesday, July 24, 2019.
The new processing facility is as different as “night and day” from the old one, said Snedicor’s owner Jim Gilligan.
“I’m elated. It’s a new, beautiful, bright environment,” Gilligan said. “It has nice air flow, which makes it cooler for employees, and it makes it easier for us to do a really good job for our customers.”
Snedicor’s is Livingston County’s only environmentally friendly, GreenEarth cleaning facility.
“There are no toxic chemicals at all,” Gilligan said.
Snedicor’s also features a bike-borrowing program, with two bicycles on display during the ribbon cutting.
Attendees at the ribbon-cutting ceremony were treated to tours of the new processing facility, as well as refreshments and giveaways.
Plans for the Michigan Avenue location are to eventually redevelop it with commercial/retail on the first floor, and housing on the second and third floors.
“It’s all part of a walkable downtown,” Gilligan said.
